The Summer Downswing
So I seriously don't know why this happens every year, but I am in the midst of what is now becoming a traditional Summer Downswing. It came much later in the summer this year, and started after a huge PLO Win at 500 Club in the middle of August. Since then I am winless and the streak hit its worst note while I was in Las Vegas.
I took a trip to Vegas in May right after the school year ended for the WSOP and it was a profitable trip. I came back a winner and I thought OMG this isn't going to happen this year. But then I took another Trip for Labor Day weekend and it has now happened 3 years in a row. First I stayed an entire summer in Vegas with friend for May, June, and half of July in 2014. Second I took a Vegas trip for 5 days with a school colleague and friend, in May 2015. While these trips were a lot of fun, poker never went right. No matter what I did I would lose, and it was just pretty sick how many times I got 1 and 2 outed, gutshotted, or their stupid straight and flush draw got there. I got the money in good virtually every time and it didn't work out. Well? That's poker folks. Shit happens and it sucks. Luckily after the downswing, I would go to Graton, or 500 Club and win it all back in a few sessions. I just wish the shitty side of variance was spread out throughout the year and not all at once in the summer.
So some sick hands.....
First 500 Club PLO Mid August Ish 5, 5, Mandatory 10 on the Button: Jared $1900: J 10 9 7 double suited spades, clubs in the Big Blind......
UTG $850: REG but is honestly pretty bad and makes a ton of mistakes... Opens pot to 40... 3 call and I close the action and call in the BB.
Flop: J 7 2 with 2 spades... Pot: $200
I check, and UTG Pots it for 200 and has $600 left.... Seriously thats how big a fish he is.... everybody else folds... I know he has aces I repot, and we get it in for about $800 each.. We decide to run it twice....
First Board...... J 7 2 3 A ->>>>>> GOD DAMMIT
Second Board.... J 7 2 2 .... 6 ->>>>>> YOU GOTTA BE FREAKIN KIDDING ME!
How do I lose both of those?????????? WTFFFFF.... Seriously #summerdownswing is real...

In Vegas 1-3NLH at Orleans (YEAH I KNOW but that's all they had going, my friend wanted to play 8-16 Omaha and compromising is what friends do):
I have Aces on the Button. Folds to me... I raise.... to 15.. I've had a pretty aggressive image.
One Caller in the Big Blind. We have been talking a lot and he is capable of making plays. He also loves top pair and has raised with it a lot.
Flop: J 7 5 hh..... Pot $33
He checks, I bet 20., and he raises to $75..... I call
Turn: 4... He bets $95 with $70 behind and I just jam it having him covered. He calls and goes you have Over Pair... I'm like ACES. He says shit and turns over AJ for top pair top kicker................. WOW..... River.... Jack lol......... And of course another player says they folded a Jack.... Just ye old One outer......... Got it in pretty good there :(

And then at Thunder Valley 2 weekends ago...
$2-5 NLH.....
I have KK.... Raise to 20 UTG + 1....
2 callers one on the button, and one in the Big Blind....
Flop: 9 7 2 ss.... Pot: $62
I bet 25... Button super tight nit raises to $75... and not tight but not stupid button cold calls the $75.. I say great they either have a set or I have to fade a pair and a flush draw or some other hand with 9000 outs.... I feel like I'm crushed or its a flip at best and I don't feel like flipping for $600 cause I have to go all in on the flop...... So I fold...
Turn is a non Spade King...... GOD DAMMMMMITTTTTTT.... I could have called $50 and binked the nuts.... but It just felt like a bad spot.... They go CHECK CHECK Turn and River.... Tight button guy was dicking around shows kj... and big blind has a naked flush draw without the Ace. River was a blank and KKK was the absolutes... Super tilted after that and I left......

I am running good on the Stars Home Games tho....... I binked one last night for $100 and I'm playing again in like 30 minutes.... Hopefully it goes well!
